How do I know if I should see a doctor after an auto accident?
While it is common for those who have been in an auto accident to not experience any pain or symptoms until approximately a month after their accident, it is important that you see a doctor immediately – as it is now the law that patients must see a doctor within two weeks of their auto accident. If you experience any of the following symptoms, you should book an appointment with a doctor immediately: headaches or neck or back pain; nausea; sleep disturbances of any kind; numbness and/or tingling in your arms, hands, feet, or legs; vertigo and/or dizziness; sensitivity to light; knee, shoulder, or hip pain; or pain in your mid back.
If you have experienced any of the above listed symptoms, then call us at RejuvenX Spine & Joint – or visit us online – to make your appointment now.
What sort of pain treatment options do you offer?
Here at RejuvenX Spine & Joint, we offer a variety of injectable treatments to help treat your pain following an auto accident. There are a variety of options when it comes to injectable pain treatments, such as corticosteroids, orthobiologic injections, and other injectable treatments. To help decide which treatment is better for you, speak with your physician to help them with determining which one is best for you, based on your medical and individual needs.
Corticosteroid injections are often the first option considered and are particularly useful in the prevention of osteoarthritis symptoms, and joint pain in the shoulders, knees, and hips. Typically, pain relief lasts for two to three months following the injection, while also reducing the inflammatory activity in the joint’s cells.
Another option is the use of hyaluronic acid (HA) injections, which are typically used when corticosteroids do not. However, they are usually only approved for injection use in the knees. If you do not have any signs of inflammation – or, at least, obvious ones – then hyaluronic acid injections may be considered as the first option, rather than the use of corticosteroids. Hyaluronic acid injections help by restoring the natural properties of your joint’s fluid, while also working as a lubricant and shock absorber. Treatments of hyaluronic acid are usually done in one to three injections, which offer relief for four to five months – occasionally lasting for up to a year.
There are other options when it comes to treating auto accident pain with injectables, but hyaluronic acid and corticosteroid injections are two of the most commonly used injectables. If you have any questions about the injectable pain treatment options that we offer here at RejuvenX Spine & Joint, please give us a call and we will answer any questions that you may have.
